Reading company bids to bring green energy to Africa

A green energy company based in Central Reading has struck a deal with a Tanzanian firm to find a solution to power supply problems in the African country.

Jonathan Bates, the founding director and general manager of Photon Energy, recently travelled to Africa to set up the joint venture with Comfix Engineering Ltd.

The two businesses hope to strike deals with organisations such as housing developers, businesses, schools and hospitals across the country.

Africa: Local Software Can Spur Development

Addis Ababa – Local software production and development can spur economic growth in Africa and other developing economies, says a report by the UN Conference on Trade and Development.

The ‘Information Economy Report 2012‘ shows that information and communication technology (ICT) software and services are dominated by the developed world but developing economies are catching up.

Namibia: GDP and Inflation Expected to Up in 2013

NAMIBIAN Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is estimated to grow between 4,3 and 4,5% compared to South Africa’s 2,2%. This is largely due to improved sectoral growths especially the mining sector of Namibia.

In the same line, inflation is expected to increase by 5,7% however gradually over 2013 and 2014. This is due to the rise in food prices consequent of the industrial strikes in neighbouring South Africa. Likewise, South Africa’s GDP is greatly affected by these unrests.
