SAIPA strengthens African Business with Nigerian agreement

The South African Institute of Professional Accountants have  signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its Nigerian counterpart, the Council for the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN). In terms of the memorandum, the two bodies agree to work together to promote the interests of members and the accountancy profession in general.

At a practical level, the memorandum lays down the basis on which members of one organisation can become members of the other, thus giving the South African Professional Accountant (SA) the opportunity to practice in Nigeria, and vice versa.

Access Bank Invests 14 Charity Initiatives

As part of its long term commitment to building sustainable societies through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, employees of Access Bank (Ghana) Limited embarked on 14 different charity initiatives across the country intended to invest back in the communities within which the bank operates.

The various projects were targeted mainly at education, health and the less privileged in society.

Eni successfully drilled first oil delineation well of the Sankofa East oil discovery in offshore Ghana

Eni successfully drilled Sankofa East 2A, the first appraisal well of the Sankofa East oil discovery in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) block, located in the Tano Basin offshore Ghana, around 50 km off the coast of Ghana. The result is important because it confirms the commercial standing of the oil discovery in the OTCP block and the strategic importance of the block for further industrial and economic development in the country.

New UN Programme to Improve Livelihoods of Thousands of Farmers in South Sudan

Some 30,000 vulnerable farmers in South Sudan will be able to benefit from a new United Nations programme that aims to improve their livelihoods by boosting the quality of the seeds they use to produce key crops.

The $612,000 programme, which will be implemented with the support of France and South Sudan’s ministry of agriculture, will target several states for one year, training farmers in the production, storage and marketing of quality seeds and cuttings of staple crops such as maize, cassava, cowpeas and sorghum.
