East Africa: Atomic Energy to Be Used for Cancer Treatment
KENYA will use atomic energy as part of the government's efforts to meet the rising energy demands.The revelation came at the 23rd African Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research working group meeting in Mombasa yesterday that brought together close to 100 participants from the region.
Tanzania: Water Project to Benefit Geita Village
Geita  MORE than 3,000 residents in Mkolani village, Geita district, will soon benefit from a water project funded by the Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) under its campaign dubbed "No Water No Life."The company recently donated 25m/- for the drilling of three water boreholes, to be carried out by the Dydrotech Development Agencies Community Company, which won the tender for the job. Briefing TBL Director for Corporate Affairs, Mr Stephen Kilindo and the Geita District Commissioner, Mr Manzie Mangochie on the project, the representative of the company Mr Enock Kangasa revealed that all is set for the project to kick off.

Last week, State-run Energy Water and Sanitation Authority requested Rwanda Utilities and Regulation Authority (RURA) for a tariff hike in part to allow Government focus on power generation.Rwanda's demand for electricity has been rising steadily over the years. The number of electricity users has increased to 286,000, up from 109,000 four years ago.
