Sata Orders Zesco…Develop More Hydro-Power Stations

PRESIDENT Michael Sata has directed Zesco to develop more hydro-power stations around Zambia to meet the increasing power demand.
Mr Sata said Zambia was faced with increased power demand, which required more investment in energy infrastructure.
The President said this in Chinsali yesterday when he commissioned the US$4.1 million Shiwan’gandu mini-hydro-power station.
Jonathan Promises Stable Electricity By June 2013

Islamabad – President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday in Islamabad, Pakistan assured Nigerians of a stable supply of electricity in major cities by the end of second quarters of next year.
Jonathan gave the assurance at an interactive session with the Nigerian community living in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Firm to Build U.S. $100 Million Wind Power Initiative

Nairobi –  Global infrastructure development giant General Electric Company (GE) last week announced a grand plan of investing some $100 million towards power generation in Kenya over the next one year.
The funding will go towards the construction of two wind power projects to boost generation to the national grid.
Spanish Firm Starts On SA Solar Projects

Spanish renewable energy group Abengoa announced on Tuesday that it has begun construction on two concentrated solar power projects in South Africa.
Abengoa will build a 50 MW solar power tower near Upington and a 100 MW parabolic trough solar power plant near Pofadder, both in South Africa’s semi-desert Northern Cape province.
