Buseruka dam to supply power to 1,000 homes

The days of load shedding electricity are increasingly getting numbered, following the addition of 9 megawatts to the national grid by Hydromax Ltd, a renewable energy firm. President Museveni is expected to officially launch the project today Friday in Buseruka, Hoima district.
Karuma power dam technical bids completed

The technical re-evaluation process for the bids interested in the construction of the proposed 600 megawatt (MW) Karuma hydropower project has been completed. The procurement process now enters the financial evaluation stage, after which the best evaluated firm will be invited for negotiations, acceptance and signing of the contract before construction works starts.
“A team of highly competent experts has completed the technical-evaluation process and we are moving on the next procurement stage,†Paul Mubiru, the acting permanent secretary in the energy ministry said on Monday. “Their report is with us. But we don’t want to disclose the details as per the law.â€Â

Reading company bids to bring green energy to Africa

A green energy company based in Central Reading has struck a deal with a Tanzanian firm to find a solution to power supply problems in the African country.
Jonathan Bates, the founding director and general manager of Photon Energy, recently travelled to Africa to set up the joint venture with Comfix Engineering Ltd.
The two businesses hope to strike deals with organisations such as housing developers, businesses, schools and hospitals across the country.
